We’re excited to share that we’re currently testing a brand-new feature in the Ruxbury app: Foaling Alarm (breeder alert)
The foalng feature t is already visible in the app. It is designed to give you peace of mind during one of the most critical moments in a mare’s care.
Here’s how it works:
- The Foaling Alarm uses your Ruxbury tracker to monitor the mare’s heart rate.
- When the heart rate exceeds a custom threshold set by you, the app automatically sends a text message to your phone – so you can respond quickly and confidently.
-
With this new feature the Ruxbury Tracker is both a training device and a foaling alarm (breeder alert)
We have tested with users around Europe and still are doing tests. The new function is still in beta.
If you would like to try the foaling alarm already now, it is possible if you have a Ruxbury device already.
How to test it out:
You need a Ruxbury device:
· Open the Ruxbury App
· Click Start Session
· Choose Ruxbury Sensor
· Click on “ is the foaling session”
· Click connect to sensor
· Set max heart rate for alarm setting – ex.60-90. The app will send sms alarm if the horse heart rate reach 100 ( you can select 25-250) *
· Type in the number you would like to receive a text message
· Then start the session.
You will need to have a phone with the Ruxbury app close by the horse, the app is connected to the Ruxbury sensor via Bluetooth. The rage is 10-20 meters.
The phone will need to have wifi or gsm access. Most of our tests use an old Android og iphone.
We recommend to use the Ruxbury sensor for a few weeks prior to the foaling to get an idea if how your horse.
We recommend that you use the Ruxbury tracking days before foaling as you then get knowledge about your Mare heart rate in a normal situation. You can use the Ruxbury tracker at night. Start the session every evening and monitor the hear rate during the night. Start the session at 9 pm and when you get back to the stable in the morning you stop the session. Then you have data for how the heart rate changes during the night and this will help you understand your mares heart leves.

Disclaimer: As we are testing right now, we recommend that you use a camera or similar to monitor your mare, so the Ruxbury app is not used as standalone solution during the test-period.
